“The 395 corridor is a critical route for the Greater Springfield region, and all of northern Virginia. The conversion of today’s HOV system to Express Lanes will benefit travelers by increasing roadway capacity and offering new travel options to many commuters,” said Nancy-jo Manney, president of the Greater Springfield Chamber of Commerce.
Transportation remains a top priority for the Chamber. Improving the region’s transportation network is essential for economic growth and prosperity. The extension of the Express Lanes to the Pentagon is integral. Expanded capacity will help reduce congestion, improve mobility and travel time for users, and it will provide enhanced access to the Pentagon through improvements to the Eads Street interchange. Additionally, the 395 Express Lanes project will bring improved transit service to the corridor by dedicating a portion of annual toll revenues to new and enhanced transit services in the corridor.
