I am honored to serve as the Greater Springfield Chamber of Commerce's 2017 board chair.
I grew up locally, graduating from Hayfield Secondary School. I then attended the University of Tennessee, where I studied Mass Communications (and Vol football, of course), graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in Journalism/Public Relations.
After spending 12 years doing PR, marketing, event planning, sales support and education for two wine import companies, I shifted my full-time effort in 2012 to the PR firm I founded in 2009.
At the annual dinner, I asked everyone to take selfies with their table mates. The reason for this request was to demonstrate how easy it is to generate real-time custom content for use as a marketing tool online.
This is something you can do to increase visibility for our Chamber. That increased visibility ultimately benefits all of our members, including your business, and works toward the Chamber’s larger mission. Our Chamber currently participates on Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn, and has many non-member followers on those platforms.
From a marketing perspective, community involvement is key to developing a larger and more devoted audience for our members. From a community perspective, this offers a feel-good sense of small-town living, something hard to come by in Northern Virginia.
As we look ahead to 2017, My goal is to continue promoting the Chamber’s position and influence within the community. I believe a strong presence by our Chamber in the Greater Springfield area is mutually beneficial to residents, businesses, government entities and the Chamber alike, as it allows for a fluid, communicative and productive relationship across segments, and is especially impactful to those who have invested in Chamber membership.
Meghan Snyder, owner of Meghan Snyder Communications, is the 2017 chairman of the Greater Springfield Chamber of Commerce.
