I feel your pain. It’s my pain, too.
The Greater Springfield Chamber of Commerce gets many calls and complaints about potholes on our local roads. Right now Commerce Street through central Springfield is high on the complaint list. It’s near the top, maybe at the top, because Commerce Street is the ‘main street’ connecting the central Springfield business community east to west.
The Chamber is working closely with Supervisor Jeff McKay’s office to get this roadway moved up VDOT’s list of repaving projects. We believe Commerce Street must be repaved, end to end, this paving season.
You can help us keep the pressure on.
VDOT has a web portal for reporting road issues, including potholes, my.vdot.virginia.gov. It only takes a minute to report an issue. And you may opt to receive follow-up emails or texts.
The Chamber and Supervisor McKay will continue to press for complete repaving of Commerce Street. If customers stop traveling this route due to its extreme state of disrepair there will be a negative impact on our business community.
VDOT, it's time to repave Commerce Street.
